Faithful With What Is in Your Hands

In the parable of the talents, a master entrusts his servants with different amounts according to their ability. When he returns, he praises the servants who faithfully worked with what they had been given.

The principle is clear:

Increase is a fruit of faithfulness, and faithfulness gives way to promotion.

Faithfulness is not merely a personality trait that some people naturally possess. Scripture describes faithfulness as a fruit of the Spirit. For the believer, it is something available through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

Fruit is proof and manifestation of the source within. In the same way, increase in what has been entrusted to us can become the product of faithfulness as we yield to the Spirit of Excellence within us.

Paul said:

“I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” — 1 Corinthians 15:10

Faithfulness, therefore, is not something we manufacture by human strength. It is a quality already available in us that is expressed as we partner with the Holy Spirit.

And godly faithfulness flows from love. This is what separates simple worldly dependability from faithfulness produced by the Spirit. Everything of true value in the believer is motivated by love.

Apostle Michael Orokpo put it this way:

“When you find men full of love, it will be natural for them to be faithful.”

Faithfulness also prepares us for promotion. If we cannot be faithful with little, we will not suddenly become faithful with much. Promotion is simply greater responsibility.

The question is not, “Will I be faithful when I have more?”

The question is, “What am I doing with what is already in my hands?”

Child of God, do not despise the seemingly small responsibilities entrusted to you. See them as opportunities to grow in your understanding of the fruit of faithfulness within you.

Partner with the Holy Spirit, remain faithful with what God has placed in your hands, and bring increase to it.
